Repair Techs

Emilio Montoya is our honorary technician. He did the majority of our single reed repairs. He learned to repair first from his father and then from Steve. Emilio attended the National University in Colombia, South America where he earned a B. A. in Clarinet Performance. He was 1st chair clarinet in the National Symphony Orchestra of South America from 1982-1995. In 1996 Emilio came to Gaithersburg Maryland to work for L & L Music · Wind Shop, Inc. He played clarinet and saxophone professionally as a soloist and with a number of Latin and big bands. Emilio retired from band instrument repair in June 2010 and returned to his home in Colombia, South America. We appreciate everything he did for us and he will continue to be a long time family friend. He visits occassionally and may be found working in our shop when he does.
